Spotlight: Francesca

Francesca Patrón is a Chicago-based theater and film director who has worked with ARTSiE since the start of 2023. We are so thankful for Francesca’s influence on our programming. Francesca exhibits initiative and a heart that is 100% aligned with ARTSiE’s mission of providing quality arts enrichment to children. After working with us as a teaching artist this summer, she reached out to see how else she could support ARTSiE's mission. Since then, she has been recruiting teaching artists, facilitating engagement with the Northwestern Theater Department, and supporting the Evanston programming. Take a look at Francesca in her sweet spot with ARTSiE: supporting ARTSiE's quality programming!

Frida Libre

Francesca facilitated discounted tickets from Northwestern Theater Department’s Frida Libre production. Through the entire fall semester, Francesca aided Ms. Laura & Ms. Robyn in curriculum development for Washington School’s Frida Libre class. Using her experience as a teaching artist and theater practitioner, Francesca offers a valuable perspective. She attended the Frida Libre show to see her own students perform, as well as meet our ARTSiE kids and family members. Thank you for your energy and expertise, Francesca!

Comedy & Improv

Focusing on the three pillars of comedy (improvisation, scripted stand up, and sketch) students in this ARTSiE class developed their own comedic voice, culminating in one final group performance.

Look at what our teaching artist, Francesca Patrón, had to say:

“I was blown away by the creativity of the students. They did not have much comedic experience prior to the class, but by the end of the course, each student was able to confidently stand up and improvise a scene or monologue without any fear or hesitation. One student told me that it felt like they weren't learning anything because they were having so much fun. It was so inspiring to see these kids grow in their sense of identity and to learn to tap into their brilliantly creative minds on the spot. I was so proud!”

Needless to say, this course provided joy, humor, and a shared sense of confidence in each child's ability to command an audience.

Thank you, Francesca, for your critical eye, commitment and spirit to support children and families through the arts! We appreciate you.
