Hi, I’m Ryan!

Ryan Lien grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, where he recorded music in his basement and acted, wrote, and designed for Thomas Jefferson Theater Arts, Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre, and The Georgetown Gilbert and Sullivan Society. He is currently studying Playwrighting, Theatre Management, and Business at Northwestern University. On campus he is Rights Representative for the Northwestern Student Theatre Coalition and Co-Technical Director of Arts Alliance. His play The Wild Thing is being produced as part of Lovers & Madmen's Adaptation Festival in April 2024. Ryan is also on the writing team for Spectrum Theatre Company's Project NU, which will go up in May 2024.

Ryan has worked as a teaching assistant for Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre and Northwestern's theatre department. Working as a teaching artist for ARTSiE has given Ryan the chance to develop lesson plans on storytelling and finding confidence through art, both of which are important to him as a former shy child who found joy through music and theatre. Ryan is excited to keep working with ARTSiE to help students find their voice and learn how to appreciate the voices of others.
