Farmers’ Market Field Trip

On Friday, June 17, and Saturday, June 18, parents and children attended local Farmers’ Markets in Schaumburg and Elk Grove Village.

LTA Summer Enrichment Camp students used our farmer’s market treasure hunt activity packet to explore the market and discover new delicious fruits and vegetables.

LTA student, Jazlynn, enjoys a juicy peach with her family.  Her mom and dad are listening to the vendor explain the process of canning fruits and sauces.

Painting activities made the day even more special for David and Layla with their moms and grandma.

Frank shows another Farmers’ Market fan the new green vegetable he discovered at the market. Check out the orange cauliflower in the background too!

David asks the farmer about his carrots.

Fun day for these siblings!

Naomi carefully jots down her discovery in the treasure hunt packet.

After attending the Farmers’ Markets, the children took their produce home and enjoyed cooking and eating fresh, healthy foods with their families.

We are grateful to all the farmers who work hard every day to provide delicious, healthy food for our children!

Family Connection outings like this are a key feature of our Literacy through the Arts programs and help bring LTA children and their families closer together while also strengthening community bonds.
