After 31 years of teaching High School English and Creative Writing, Elliott Hurtig is comfortably settling into retired life by… teaching a little more! Elliott’s passion for bringing forth students' creative voice spans across a variety of genres from spoken word poetry, visual arts and theater. As a teacher and former Department Chair at Deerfield High School, Elliott modeled a student centered approach seeking out diverse ways to help students feel both connected to the learning process and a sense of ownership over their learning.
Elliott is also the founder of the Evanston Unity Soccer Festival, an annual event that brings together a diverse group of players from Evanston to celebrate the power of how community unites people to bring about social change.
