Program Highlights

“Ballet for Martha” Class

ARTSiE dancers in our Kenneyville after school program created and collaborated beautifully last Wednesday. This session, ARTSiE Kidz have been focusing on pioneers of modern dance such as Alvin Ailey, Robert Battles, and Martha Graham. After reading Ballet for Martha: Making Appalachian Spring by Jan Greenberg, we listened to the Appalachian Spring music. Then, the dancers worked together in small groups and exchanged ideas to create choreography to the music together, taking inspiration from Martha Graham. They shared their pieces and asked for feedback from their peers in class.

What we love about this is that we see our ARTSiE Kidz engaging with a book and collaborating with each other to create movement and art from it. We are so excited to continue working with this wonderful group of ARTSiE Kidz!

ARTSiE is excited to continue introducing children of all ages to the power of literacy and the arts. Make sure your child joins us in our next session.
