Meet Michelle Schaub, author of Fresh Picked Poetry
ARTSiE is so excited to announce that Michelle Schaub, author of Fresh Picked Poetry, one of our core texts for this summer, will be a guest artist this summer in our LTA programming.
Michelle Schaub is an award-winning children’s author and veteran teacher. Her book Fresh-Picked Poetry: A Day at the Farmers’ Market won the 2018 Growing Good Kids Award and 2019 Northern Lights Book Award. Michelle speaks at conferences on the power of poetry to boost literacy and shares ways to use poetry in the classroom on her blog POETRY BOOST, www.michelleschaub.blogspot.com.
This spring, Ms. Laura met Ms. Schaub at the Illinois Reading Council Conference where ARTSiE attended and presented alongside Kenneyville District 20 teachers, Ms. Brianna & Ms. Eleni. While there, our ARTSiE staff saw Ms. Schaub present a conversation with teachers about the high quality children's books she authors as well as thoughtful teaching guides which inspire teaching children to explore the wonder of poetry, words, and language.
We are thrilled to be collaborating with her this summer for a two day visit. During this special time, we are expecting the children to explore words, movement adaptation, and discovery through Ms. Schaub’s book and presence.
