Alebrijes Class with Sr. Piloto

May 2026

This past spring, ARTSiE offered an Alebrijes class at Washington Elementary School, led by Sr. Piloto, Sra. Salgado y Sr. Saliaza. Over the course of several weeks, students explored the rich tradition of alebrijes—colorful, imaginative creatures rooted in Mexican folk art. Using the traditional paper mâché technique, young artists designed and built their own unique alebrijes, combining features from different animals and bringing their creative visions to life.

At the end of the session, students proudly showcased their finished alebrijes at Washington Elementray School during the last class, where families had the opportunity to celebrate their creativity and hard work. The Alebrijes class highlighted the power of art to connect students with cultural traditions while encouraging imagination, self-expression, and hands-on learning.

Programs like this remind us how meaningful arts education can be in fostering creativity, cultural appreciation, and community engagement. At ARTSiE, we are proud to offer enriching experiences that inspire young artists, and we look forward to continuing to create opportunities for children and families to explore the arts together.
